Sewing & Serging Classes

There is a national trend towards young people wanting to learn to sew and design fashion. This has been accelerated by the "Project Runway" show, and well-known sewing machine companies have even come out with their version of "Project Runway" sewing machines!

 

Sewing schools are popping up around the country taking advantage of this opportunity. However, many of them do not provide a comprehensive curriculum and pack far too many students into the classes. Our classes will build your sewing, fashion design and decorator skills, from the basic to the most advanced. We will have you sewing & serging  with confidence before you know it! Machine or hand sewing, there is something for everyone. Start simple!

 

Smocking Series

These three classes will build your smocking and construction skills. Start simple, and then complete this series making a girl's bishop dress complete with French seams, bias trim, piping, sleeve insertion and buttonholes.  

 

Our instructors have taught these classes for years and has hints and tips that will help guide you through each step of the way and have you smocking and sewing with confidence!

Heirloom Sewing Series

Heirloom or French Sewing is a collection of needlework techniques that imitates French hand sewing of the 1890-1920 periods.

 

Using your sewing machine and special presser feet, you re-create these fine techniques while constructing beautiful and delicate items complete with laces and specialty trims.  Kay Nickell has been heirloom sewing for years and will guide you through this exciting world of stitchery!

Quilting Classes

These classes will introduce you to the basics of quilting and continue to challenge and grow your quilting skills. We will have you quilting with confidence before you know it! Machine or hand sewing, there is something for everyone. Start simple! If you have a technique that you would like to learn, let us know. We will arrange a class around your ideas.
