Meet Our Teachers

Miss Amy

Smocking Instructor

Ms. Amy is addicted to smocking! She smocks anything that she can get her hands on...and the "ohhs" and "ahhs" that you hear when you see one of her lovely smocked garments invites you to want to know more about this fascinating lady and her techniques. She teaches our beginning and advanced smocking classes and they are always filled. Come in the shop and salivate over hand smocked dresses and outfits she has created for her grandchildren!

Miss Carolyn

Quilt Teacher and Alterations Specialist

Miss Carolyn has lived in the Robertson County area for 26 years. Originally from Indiana, she has been sewing and quilting since she was 10 and has had a long career as an alterations expert. She brings her unique sense of humor and friendliness to the shop and all her students constantly sign up for whatever class she is teaching, she is that much fun and patient! You will find her in the shop on Wednesdays and Saturdays, as she works one-on-one with each customer whether choosing fabrics or finishing that special quilt, to achieving the perfect finishing touches on that special dress.

She specializes in the Cathedral Windows technique and teaches this class 6 times per year. She also teaches the technique in private lessons on Saturdays or Wednesday mornings. She is our Block of the Month "maven" who studies, cuts, pieces and finishes our blocks and quilts prior to releasing them to our customers. She wants everything to be just perfect for you!

Miss Dot

Sewing Instructor

Dot Bridges is quite an interesting lady who loves anything cowboy & cowgirl! She has been teaching sewing for many years and just loves to see the students' faces as they "get it" when she describes a new technique that she wants them to try in class. Miss Dot teaches our beginning and advanced sewing classes on Tuesday and Thursdays, and we are honored to have her teaching in our shop since she is one of the judges for the "Fun with Fashion" event that is held at the Robertson County Fair each year. Her Native American heritage is evident in her award-winning beautiful Seminole jackets she hand sews every year. When you sign up for a class with Miss Dot, you will really learn how to sew!

Miss Kay

Heirloom Sewing Instructor

Miss Kay is passionate about heirloom sewing! She learned to sew at age seven when her grandmother taught her to make aprons. Growing up, she made Barbie clothes and later her own clothes. When her daughter was born 24 years ago, she signed up for an heirloom sewing class so she could make lacy, one-of-a-kind dresses. All these years later, she still enjoys the "therapy" of this addicting hobby. Kay shares her passion with others by teaching classes on these wonderful techniques, and  specializes in making baby daygowns, girls' yoke and party dresses, lace collars, heirloom baby bonnets, pillowcase dresses and lovely pillows. Kay's patient manner, subtle humor and personal attention make her classes very popular. She now sews for her nieces and future grandchildren, and also enjoys smocking, machine embroidery and re-purposing vintage textiles. You will love her as much as we do!

Miss Carrie

Quilting & Sewing Instructor

Ms. Carrie is passionate about quilting and also enjoys sewing projects that appeal to teens. She is designing her own quilt patterns and loves to teach quilting techniques to anyone who will stop to listen. Carrie's humor and vivaciousness are contagious and her classroom is always filled with laughter. She teaches our beginning quilting classes and is also teaching a terrific backpack this season, which is great for teen's and upcoming holiday gifts.
