Sewing and Quilting Instructor and Couture Sewing Specalist
Miss Donna is passionate about anything FABRIC! The Fabric Shop opened in April 2008, and she will tell you experts say that one's second career should always be your passion. A retired Fortune 500 senior executive she jumped at the chance to follow the experts' advice. Miss Donna is an experienced seamstress and designer and with her business background, and her knowledge of the sewing and textile industry (she graduated from Penn State with a degree in Textiles and Business and an MBA in Business Administration) she went to work.
Originally from historic Bucks County, PA, she learned to sew from her mom when she was just 5 years old making Barbie clothes from her mother's scraps. She even made a real fur coat for her doll from old pieces of mink her mom got at a thrift store! She eagerly awaited the mail each day for the packages of leftover trims her mother would send away for from Wrights Trims back in the 1950's. You will find Miss Donna on the sales floor helping customers, teaching private sewing lessons, teaching children's and teen's sewing classes, or meeting with fabric & notions sales representatives ordering all the new items the shop gets every week.
Our knowledgeable team, Miss Donna (taking the picture) and from left to right: Misses Denise, Marinda, Neve and Debbie are here to personally serve you. Come by our shop or give us a call and let us help you choose fabrics for your next quilt, dress, child's clothes or home decor, get instruction on the latest sewing or quilting technique, choose the right class for you, or help alter a pattern for that next great outfit or quilt. We listen to what you want to do and help you bring it to fruition. Here's a glimpse of our team:
Miss Debbie joined the shop at the end of 2013 after retiring from her job in the Robertson County school system. She loves sewing and quilting of all kinds. She especially enjoys sewing children's clothing as well, especially for her twin granddaughters who she has made matching outfits since they were very young. Debbie sews in her "spare" time when she is not working at the shop. She is a native of Springfield. Debbie and her husband Tony enjoy farm life and spending time with family and fishing in their huge pond on their farm. Stop by on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and she will be happy to help you!
Sewing and Fiber Specialist
Denise is our Operations and Merchandise Manager. Denise is a great sewing enthusiast and is delving into quilting as her newest talent. She loves anything fiber, and is part of the Highland Rim Fiber Artisan's Guild and always is styishly attired in something that she has made. She can always be found with knitting needles or a crochet hook in her bags. If she is not arranging new merchandise as it enters the shop or changing the displays in our beautiful windows, she can be found at the cutting table sewing with our portable machines the latest quilt sample for the shop. Denise, her husband John and her three children reside in Robertson County. Stop by on Tuesdays, or Thursdays and she'll be happy to help you.
Miss Marinda has been working for us part time for two years while she was a Cosmetology student working towards her degree. She hopes to get a job working in the film production field in Nashville doing hair and makeup while still working at The Fabric Shop. She loves any type of fabric and really keeps us "old" gals on our toes! Her vivacious personality shows through as she greets each customer like an old friend and works hard to exceed their expectations! Marinda is a "cosplay" specialist and loves to show us the latest costumes that she designs herself. Marinda is a transplant from San Diego, CA and is becoming adjusted to being a "southern woman" here is Robertson County TN. She currently lives with her parents and two sisters in White House, TN. Stop by Friday and Saturday and Marinda will be glad to help you!
