"An old fashioned fabric & quilt shop......customer service the way it should be"
Hours of Operation: Tues. - Fri. 10-5 CST
Sat. 10-4:30 CST
Sun. - Mon. CLOSED
Well Groundhog Phil was right. Here in TN we just finished battling yet another ice storm which closed the shop for 2
days......Spring can't come soon enough for us! Only good thing is it's a great time to sew and quilt, snuggled in front of the fire and reading our quilting and sewing books...without
electricity not much else to do.......
It's also an important time to remember to replace all that fabric that you used from your stash to make all those beautiful holiday gifts this year....Your stash must be getting low right now. (remember, you're not buying more fabric, you're just replacing what you gave away, right?) We'll help you with that at The Fabric Shop.
Worldwide Quilting Day - Saturday, March 15,
The Fabric Shop is celebrating 30 days to "Wrap the World in Stars" starting on Worldwide Quilting Day. Enter to win a $100 shopping spree in the shop by making 12" star blocks for charity. The whole world is participating!!
Join us on Saturday, March 15, 2013 for our celebration of “Worldwide Quilting Day” (and yes, it is an actual designated holiday, we didn't make this up!) here at The Fabric Shop in beautiful historic Springfield, TN. We will be sewing 12" star blocks for charity and next Saturday will be the kick-off for this 30 day event!
Bring your scraps, buy new fabric, or use any donated fabric you have laying around and sew up a variety of star blocks in the designated colors for that charity, and donate them to be made into quilts for these charities.
For each block you donate anytime between March 15th (our kick-off event), and April 15 (tax day), you'll receive a $1 bonus buck -- to be used in the shop. We'll collect blocks and assemble these into quilts (with the help of our local quilt guilds!) and donate them to these charities.
We would love to have participate with us next Saturday, and show your support for these charities. Come in and sew up 12" star blocks to support the efforts of The Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, The Quilts of Valor Foundation, and The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
As you know, each charity has its own special ribbon colors and we will have a special assortment of fabrics in those ribbon colors available for purchase at a 15% discount, so you can make blocks that support the charity that is near and dear to your heart!
The more blocks you make the more $$ you earn in bonus bucks to be used at The Fabric Shop! Remember, you can also use your own fabric scraps too - you know that you have to use it up, right?
Also, take a look at what one of our very own customers has started - a Facebook page called "Quilt Blocks for MS" so your MS blocks will also be featured on her page. Go "Like" her page when you have a chance to show your support.
We will have free refreshments available all day and the sewing machines will be set up and ready to sew, or you can bring your own with you. Feel free to bring your own lunch.
We will also have a variety of 12" star patterns available for you to keep to construct your blocks, so choose the one, or several that you like the most. Or you can use your own special star pattern if you like. The more the merrier, as long as it will measure 12" finished.
But, don't forget the star contest to win a $100 Shopping Spree at The Fabric Shop. The more blocks you make, the better your chance of being a winner. See instructions to the right on this site for entry. The 12" star block contest is being conducted via the Worldwide Quilting Day website this year at http://worldwidequiltingday.com/.
We had a winner out of all the national entries for the "Love Your Local Quilt Shop Day" contest in February,
and we want to do that again!!
Come for the morning, mid-day or afternoon, or rendezvous with your friends and stay all day, whatever is convenient for you. I guarentee you will have a fun experience. We had a great time in February and everyone wanted to know "When is next event?" There's something about sewing with other like minded people that is always fun! This event is being sponsored by The Fabric Shop Network and some of the “who’s who” in the quilting industry.
We would love you to RSVP “yes” so we can count on your participation in making this celebration a great success this year. Please “RSVP yes”, by calling the shop at (615) 382-5600 or emailing me at email@example.com so we know how many refreshments to have on hand for the day.
Our charity sew making 12" star blocks will be going on all day. so if you can’t make it during this day, remember, you can sew up blocks at home also - you have until April 15th to get them to the shop.
Best Wishes, And I Hope You Can Join Us!
We had a great time on Saturday, January 25th, 2014 when 40 gals came together for the charity sew at The Fabric Shop to celebrate our 2nd Annual "Visit Your Local Quilt Shop" Day. This year's charity sew is the Quilts of Valor Foundation and we sewed a total of 320+ patriotic blocks to be made into quilts and given to combat veterans. We have enough to make 4 more quilts, Yeah ladies!!
Everyone participated from sewing, pressing, squaring up or cutting strips. As one of only two Quilts of Valor Tennessee quilt shops, we would like to thank everyone for all of their efforts as well as coming out to sew on a bitterly cold day. A good time was had by all! The Robertson County Times covered the event and Smokey Barn News did some terrific interviews of the receipents. See the video at Smokey Barn News.com
Above are just a few pictures throughout the day: Denise Sorro-Butler displaying her completed quilt block, Muffy Arrington putting blocks on the design wall, Ginger Fondren, Donna Sandidge, and Brenda Nixon showing off a completed quilt and the 3 veterans receiving their Quilts of Valor. Go to our Quilts of Valor page on this website for more pictures and the story of our 3 veteran receipents.
We have a great selection of new classes and new teachers for you this winter and we hope that you can take one of our classes in the newly designed classroom with lots of room, individual sewing stations, LOTS of light, and ironing and cutting stations. We hope you enjoy our offerings.
New classes such as Learn to Hand Applique, and Learn to Hand Quilt with the prominent Irene Andrews, a National Quilting Association master quilter; The Chameleon Quilt; The Hexi-Harmony Quilt; Decorative Pillow Making Class; and The Mondo Bag-rescheduled, plus our popular Learn to Serge, Learn to Sew and Learn to Quilt basic classes are back again by demand!
Please let us know if there is any particular class that you would like to see and we will do our best to hold that class, if possible. All classes have a minimum of 4 students in order to schedule the classroom and teacher. So encourage your friends to join in the fun with you - the more the merrier.
We have Quilts of Valor kits are available for purchase at the shop. These kits meet the size and type requirements of the Quilts of Valor Foundation. We have these kits at a special price for our customers who would like to sign up to make a Quilt of Valor and participate in honoring our combat and combat-related veterans.
